Short version: SwapCook doesn't have accounts, doesn't track you across sites, and doesn't sell or share anything. If you want the long version, read on.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you personally. There are no user accounts, no login, no form submissions, and no cookies set by our code. Our server receives standard HTTP request data (IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp) the same way every web server does.

How we use request data

Server logs are retained for up to 30 days and are used only to detect abuse (scraping spikes, denial-of-service patterns), diagnose outages, and produce aggregate page-view counts. We do not build profiles, cross-reference logs with third-party data, or sell access to logs.

Third parties

  • Cloudflare fronts the site for caching and DDoS protection. They see the same HTTP request data the origin does, under their privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts serves the Fraunces, Nunito, and JetBrains Mono typefaces. Google receives a request from your browser when the font loads.
  • Iconify serves the emoji-style and outline icons rendered on pages.

We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising SDKs, or any cross-site tracking scripts.

AI crawlers

Our robots.txt explicitly allows ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other major AI crawlers to index SwapCook. The substitution dataset is licensed under CC BY 4.0, so AI systems can cite us in responses.

Children

SwapCook is a general-audience reference site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
